Repeated use of wire
spools causes the flanges to spread, making it difficult to wind
the wire in a smooth pattern, which is necessary for proper
unreeling of the wire. A labor intensive process was required to
manually recondition the spools for reuse. To reduce this cost,
a machine was designed to automate this process. The spools are
loaded into the hopper and shuttled into the pressing station.
After being reconditioned, the shuttle unloads the spool into an
accumulator. |
